A New Year
A new year, a fresh start. An important year, not to forget. One with no active King or Sidhe to speak of. These changes are becoming more and more apparent. Old members are leaving, new ones are joining.
Times are changing for the DS in a lot of ways. some changes are good, some are bad. Personally I hoped the old ways would stay intact, but it appears the Sidhe has chosen different and that it wasn't needed anymore. Which eventually ended in the demise of the Sidhe itself. Still, in some new members I see the old codes and gestures, this gives hope that one day the Sidhe will return.
The parting of lord Rayendir, one of the major happenings last year, is becoming more and more noticeable. For himself, it was his time to go, I understand and support his decision. But no one stepped up to fulfill the role of King, and with the rest of the community council not willing to pick up the slack, this leaves the future uncertain.
Real life meetings. At the big bunnik party this year members asked to have another special one to celebrate the 12,5 year anniversary of our grand clan. When the date came closer it turned out only 7 persons actually had reserved time for it. The rest stated the deadline to even make the poll on the site was too hard, or they preferred to keep their agenda open. Is this an indication of how the big DS party is going to turn out as well was a question I had more than once in my mind the last months. In the way people rather *keep their agenda open* then seeing each other once or twice a year. To get to know the person behind the computer how he/she really is. The friendships made and maintained on this occasions?
Does the majority of DS really want this, or is it hiding behind the ones with big mouths? Or is it a lack of interest in each other? Have we become selfish? What happened to the days when we as a group could make a statement instead of the rampage of one man claiming what the rest has to do, and the rest just following as sheep?
Remember this everyone, we are a group, not single divisions with just the same name. If we stop acting like a group, we won't get another year as oldest gaming community. It took me years to realize the meaning of a lot of ray sized post of the past 5 years. It hit me in the head some weeks back. And all I can say, damned he's right.
For the newsletter, the team we have now. Sylph, Demonella, Glittergirl, Uno, Tyrael and Sianto together with Broll and Kouklien for the msn community that is for me how DS should work. As a group for the group. I got from all a lot of input this time, communication, mails, updates via PM. They like it when I read their pieces and comment on it. That gives me such a good feeling from these guys and girls. Putting all their effort in it, not wanting anything back beside sharing their motivation to the rest. I'm proud to be a part of this group, proud of being a member of DS. that is another story these days.
Kind regards and fly safe,
Tyrael
