Update: Travian

This is the update of the DS division on server 5 (s5). Lately a lot has happened and to explain this properly I’ll have to tell you some history first.

As some of you might know, we as DS played a big part in the endgame on the previous server 5; we supported de ‘Wilde Watjes’ during their construction of their world wonder. This alliance eventually even won the endgame.
The losing side couldn’t cope with this and vowed to destroy DS or their members if we dared to show our faces on the new s5.

Some time before this server started we made up inventory of who wanted to play on this new server. Eventually a list of 20 people was made. This time we would build our own world wonder en win the endgame for the glory of DS. Weapons were sharpened and battle plans made to ensure this victory.

As the 27th of July dawned s5 started again.
The members of DS where positioned closely together and quickly an embassy was built and the alliance got started.
DS C.V. it was to be named to confuse our enemies of old, to make sure we could get a head start before they tried to attack us.

This alliance made use of an external forum, the old and trusted DS site simply didn’t give enough versatility. Melissa, the division leader on s5 at that point, decided that daoinesidhe.yourbb.nl would serve our needs better.
For some time this worked very well and the alliance prospered under the supervision of Melissa. Quickly our numbers rose to as much as 35; in its core still the 20 DS members combined with some familiar faces from s8 and new members from s5.

But the 22th of September dark clouds started to gather above the prospering alliance. This is where history stops and current events roll in. At this day Melissa decided to quit as leader of the DS alliance and throw down her weapons entirely.
Within the hour the alliance got a message from her replacements, ‘Moedermooiste’ and Paganinni’. They weren’t too fond of the ties to the DS community and proposed to sever the bonds between the DS community and the DS C.V. alliance on s5.
A questionnaire was started with the question; ‘Cut ties with DS?’ and the request to post arguments to back up your answer.

So far it was just bad news but nothing too weird. Until we, DS members, found out that our respected sovereign Rayendir was banned from the external forum. According to the new leaders he had ‘Personal ties with Melissa and since she was no longer playing there was no reason to keep him around either.’
A lot of members disagreed, both with the ban of Rayendir and to break the bonds with the DS community.
The all voted ‘No’ on the questionnaire and gave their arguments why. It boiled down to the fact that the division was born from the DS community and a big part of the alliance’s identity was based on the community. This shouldn’t be pushed aside so easily.
The new leaders got quite some resistance to their proposal, maybe more than they had anticipated, especially from gekrulez and yours truly.
A ‘lively’ discussion (often known as a ‘flamewar’) emerged around the proposal. And it took several days, in which the decent discussion had long ceased to be, before the leaders agreed on a meeting with Rayendir to talk things through.

On the 25th of September a meeting was arranged; both Paganinni and Moedersmooiste conversed with Rayendir for several hours.
Rayendir would get his forum access back and a contact from the DS community would be added to the alliance’s leadership. However, the contact wouldn’t be allowed access to the leadership fora, because ‘there isn’t anything important in there anyway’ according to the new leaders.

In the mean time the discussion on the forum continued and the old leader, Melissa, started to get involved. After some starting arguments Melissa told everyone in great length why she had had it with DS. Rayendir, probably in one of his few weak moments, reacted with a little bit too much sarcasm; ‘Yes I’m a horrible person, imagine having to live in the same house with me.’ And we all know how well sarcasm usually works on the internets.

The new leadership reacted immediately and used this line to cut the bonds between the DS community and the alliance swiftly. Rayendir got banned from the forums, again, Gekrulez got removed because he was marked a troublemaker and someone that couldn’t be trusted and the name was changed to Jaguar to make the separation from DS final.
Shortly after that, I got removed from Jaguar. This for having close ties to both Rayendir and Gekrulez and they couldn’t take their chances with me.

Gekzulez started the alliance ‘DS.’ shortly after his removal. DS members that are removed from Jaguar or decide to leave on their own accord have found their new home there. So far we count 8 members already and some more will follow shortly.

Right now we are busy to get the new alliance on track en strengthen our positions, in order to give the DS members a new and better place to keep the proud name that is Daoine Sidhe going on travian server 5.
