Ad Sanctum members of Daoine Sidhe,We’re almost halfway 2009. And a lot has happened indeed. The third of seven themes in the agenda for DS throughout 2009, is one of the much promising projects currently taking place.
3. Increasing recruitment focus on the 'type of person'
In the gaming world the focus on teamwork is increasing, which means that being a game-expert alone often is no longer enough.
Hence Taskforce Member Involvement has been looking after the change of Daoine Sidhe’s recruitment processes. These are being transformed from a set of malfunctioning division works into an individual-driven central recruitment system; a change that involves several steps.
1. Introduction of the new joinform. A new joinform was placed on the DS website, which involves a number of questions that show one’s personal interests. Based on the outcome new members can be introduced to DS in a more appropriate way.
2. Introduction of the Mentor system. Mentors are taking new members by the hand and show the community to them in a way that fits the new member’s interests. Currently a checklist for mentors is under construction.
3. Increasing participation in the community DS. New members tend to stick to things they’re familiar with, which impairs their activity. While DS is so much more than games alone! After the mentors, taskforces and divisions will be asked, and taught how to do this, to promote that new members make themselves truly useful in DS. Being a consumer alone is rather boring after all.
