Ad Sanctum members of Daoine Sidhe,

Halfway through the year 2009 it is time to look back at the progress we made, among others on the field of Daoine Sidhe’s taskforces.

The taskforces were introduced in order to deal with specific problem areas in the organization of our community, defined as:

- Communication, a lack of which is threatening DS constantly; between divisions, and between divisions and the community. As it concerns broadcasting, sharing information with the entire community, it is good to see that still practically each month a newsletter is written. And as it concerns narrowcasting, sharing information with specific, small groups of people within the community, I (in the role of community manager/king) speak frequently with division leaders and the officers they invite.
In the meantime new projects are developed as well on the field of communication, such as the English version of the annual DS meeting, the use and success of which will be pointed out later this year.

- Innovation, a lack of which causes that DS tends to focus on quantity instead of quality. Throughout the year several initiatives were taken, in the form of new divisions and ambitious plans, which is a good signal although often the initiatives were not connected to the taskforce innovation. Therefore, by the end of this year community management will consider putting an end to this taskforce.

- Intervention, which refers to the still underdeveloped use of White Knights. Later this year, depending on the exact situation in Daoine Sidhe’s divisions, the White Knights will be given a more functional profile and structural use for the community.

- Training, in order to focus DS more on quality instead of quantity, in order to give the community’s members a chance to not only play games but also develop themselves as individual people with a unique personality and collection of skills, the taskforce Training first of all developed a basic management course for division officers. Although many are currently still relating ‘personal development’ to the constellation of things that they tried to escape from by playing games online, it is now the task of community management to prove that some ambition really only increases the fun-level of being with a community like DS
