Words of the King
Ad Sanctum members of Daoine Sidhe,By the end of the summer holidays there is a phase of panic in DS every year. People not returning at all or later than expected; divisions and taskforces missing active leaders. It seems DS is threatened. It is a returning event, and the perfect moment for cleaning up DS, for evaluating the use and success of our community’s individual parts.
Taskforces
The taskforce Communication is still very successful, and I wish to compliment our newsletter team with their good work. Slowly more divisions become involved, which is a good sign for any taskforce in DS. The taskforce Training wrote the Officers training, which is in the early stages of its implementation. It will take at least till January 2010 until the first ‘Skilled officers’ are ready with their training, until then the taskforce remains dormant. The taskforce Member Involvement grew to become an effective center for gathering information about new members. Especially with the now implemented Mentorship for new members, the taskforce is heading for achieving its main goal: involvement. And it is indeed worth a compliment of what has been achieved so far. The taskforce Innovation proved to be a failure until now. This is a shame that many in our community are primarily member of their division, and not of the community. Apparently it has no further use, however in the light of the upcoming Diablo 3 and other interesting events on schedule in the wide world around DS, I have judged that the taskforce will stay till January 2010 at least. It is as a last chance for DS to organize its innovation.
Divisions
Our World of Warcraft division, with restarts included the oldest one in DS, deserves a compliment. It remains effective and liked by its members to a level difficult to achieve with several unfortunate failures of officer teams previous to the one in charge now.The Guild Wars division however saw its reintegration attempt follow the path of failure. Against the background of Guild Wars 2 being released in the first half of 2010 it seems to have little future in DS. Soon I shall decide on this matter. Then we look at our Eve Online division, that got through a lot of trouble this year yet managed to successfully start up a process of recovery as well. My compliments to those members who remained loyal to DS while others walked away, and are now rebuilding the division successfully. Our Travian division has been a success story, to the extent even that the standard DS forums were no longer considered adequate for serving the division’s needs. Currently we are testing a new forum outside the DS site, techniques of which are implemented into DS forums as we speak. Also this division I wish to compliment with their deeds so far.The Travian division is one in trouble. Although in-game sufficiently active, it lacks sufficient leaders. I will discuss this situation with its officers and decide in September what is to happen with this division. Finally, but definitely not last, recently we added to DS the new Perfect World division. It is still small, but surely over time it will grow to become a place of welfare and fame to DS.
Departments
Whereas the Console group seems to remain fairly steady, the Order of the Sidhe is experiencing difficulty adapting to modern times. In January 2010 I will evaluate the effect of the now implemented Mentorship on numbers of applications for Sidhe Apprenticeship. Should there be no improvement in activity of the Order, an emergency plan will be made.
